Governance within Haliburton is two tiered and is composed of:

The County of Haliburton and four lower tier jurisdictions:

  • The Township of Algonquin Highlands
  • The Municipality of Dysart et al
  • The Municipality of Highlands East
  • The Township of Minden Hills
The County Official Plan was approved by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing effective March 14, 2006 and the County became the approval authority for all changes to the lower tier official plans.
